The new age of telephone systems – Cloud telephony & unified communications!

Published: 1 November 2021

Over recent years, the move to cloud has accelerated dramatically, according to a recent Veeam report, 91% of businesses are increasing their cloud usage to keep their business services safe and secure during the pandemic.

Cloud telephony is no different, with recent reports suggesting a forecasted growth of 17.8% in the cloud telephony global market in 2021. (Statista, 2021)

So, what does this mean for you?

BT recently announced, due to new technologies, eroded lines, and the costs of maintaining their legacy networks, that they have decided to end their ISDN and PSTN Lines, and by 2025 these networks will be switched off completely, meaning all businesses will need to move their telephony systems to a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telecoms solution. Essentially, BT has decided to move to a fully digital network. (Business, BT, 2021)

How can moving to a cloud telephony system help you?

It will save you money

Historically, legacy phone systems are normally expensive as they require maintenance and become outdated quickly. A cloud telephony system is a much more cost-effective solution as it runs through your already installed internet connection. You can manage your billing better and more efficiently with predicable monthly billing, allowing you to scale your business as and when it grows. Depending on your requirements, you can increase or decrease the number of users.

Work from anywhere, anytime

Over the last year, many businesses have either moved to a remote working or hybrid working model with a recent Office for National Statistics (ONS) report suggesting two-fifths of organisations confirmed they will move forward with a hybrid model. A Cloud telephony system or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the perfect tool to accommodate remote workers and ensure they are connected across every platform.

Seamless integration throughout your business

Whether you are growing rapidly or have multiple sites in multiple locations, mobile workers, or home workers, Cloud telephony systems makes it easy for you to work more collaboratively throughout your business with complete integration. With everything based in the cloud, everyone can work as if they’re in the same room. If you move offices, you can simply unplug your handsets and take your whole service with you. Combine it with Microsoft Teams and you can truly connect your employees.
