Conor Flanagan, our Managed Systems Engineer, has kindly agreed to share his career journey at Xperience and his perspective on the company since he started working with us.
Conor joined Xperience in 2012, as a Placement Student from Queens University Belfast, studying Bsc Computing and Information Technology. His role involved helping the IT team by providing basic triage of general issues related to Hardware, Microsoft Exchange, Backups and Network Connectivity. During this time, Conor was mentored by different engineers in Xperience, where he was given both support desk and onsite training. “As a university student, I found the mentoring to be very beneficial as I was putting into practice what I had previously studied”, Conor said.
After his placement year, Conor returned to complete the final year of his degree. As soon as college finished, he immediately came back to Xperience, but this time working as a full-time employee, assuming the position of Service Desk Technician. “With technology quickly progressing and the business growing, I improved my skillset and started learning, supporting and implementing new solutions.”
Conor commented that having access to a large range of products such as Microsoft 365, Windows, Veeam, Sophos, Proofpoint, and Cisco daily, helped him progress in his role, eventually leading him to a promotion to work as a Managed Services Engineer.
When asked about why he enjoys working for Xperience, Conor pointed out how good is to be part of our team –
“The best thing about Xperience is my fellow colleagues. Our engineering team is supportive of one another, and we also get along socially”.
Conor also discussed the many social events organised by Xperience which are great team-building, and good fun! “Colleagues are very friendly and we have the opportunity to get involved in social activities throughout the year.”
