What's New In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018?

Published: 5 April 2018

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 is here. What can you expect from the release? What new features are available? Find out all you need to know about Microsoft’s latest innovations…

Businesses across every industry are feeling the increased pressure to modernise business processes and accelerate their digital transformation in order to remain agile. As your business evolves, its vital technology systems evolve with you. Why? Because without intelligent data and automated processes your ability to compete in the marketplace will decelerate – it’s that simple.

It’s the need for digital transformation that drives Microsoft to continue delivering excellent innovation in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. In its latest update, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2018 brings a wealth of new functionality, offering outstanding benefits to its users…

Integration with Dynamics 365 for Sales

The latest update to Microsoft Dynamics NAV will allow you to connect to your Dynamics 365 for Sales solution in just a few easy steps. By using the assisted set-up, you’ll be able to sync data instantly; including sales orders, item availability and currencies. If you’re an existing NAV user, the current integration with the app (formerly known as Dynamics CRM) has simply been rebranded and simplified to work better out of the box.

Enhanced Analytics in NAV 2018

A new Image Analyser extension brings a little piece of “Artificial Intelligence” into the NAV solution, using powerful image analytics to detect the attributes of an image you store. So for example, for a stock item, the Image Analyser will begin to detect and identify attributes such as type and colour with a confidence level, allowing you to then easily assign the item. Image Analyser also works with contacts in the NAV system suggesting both gender and age.

With NAV 2018, it is now possible to analyse financial statements within Excel.  In the business manager and accountant role centres, you can select financial statements from a drop down menu in the reports section, which will then be opened in Excel allowing you to easily review and work on the data securely.

Superior Reporting

The new Report Preview feature will extend your reporting capabilities, allowing you to display all kinds of reports in Dynamics NAV, without having to download them as a file. From invoices, tax reports to checks and balance sheets- you’ll have the ability to both preview and print directly within the browser.

Improved User Experience

Dynamics NAV 2018 will help to empower your employees by giving them more control over their daily tasks and processes. The new User Tasks feature will allow team members to create, assign and keep track of tasks as well as flag reminders when tasks are due.

And Much More…

What’s more, with the new modern, state-of-the-art extensibility model, it is even easier to customise and extend the capabilities of your NAV system, ensuring scalability to fulfil your business needs.  Other new features include UK address validation and employee ledger entries.

Microsoft are committed to Cloud innovation and as they continue to execute their Dynamics 365 product strategy, you can expect to see more updates, features and announcements over the coming year.
