They have always used Sage 50 to manage operations. However, when their version was nearing end of life, they moved to Sage 50c to maintain effectiveness and excellent customer service.

Overcoming end of life challenges

Train Door Solutions have been using Sage 50 since 2006 to control the movement of goods and components from suppliers and manufacturers to customers within UK rail industry. With their version about to reach end of life, they decided to upgrade to Sage 50c to keep track of materials for optimised delivery times and customer satisfaction.

Vanessa Mason, Accounts Manager at Train Door Solutions explained, “We received an email notifying us Sage begun withdrawing support for our version of Sage 50 and alerting us to the risks of using end of life software. We didn’t have any problems with it but knew, if we were to continue using it, this could soon affect our processes and ultimately customers.”

The upgrade took place in April, when the Xperience Team performed a smooth upgrade. Vanessa commented, “The upgrade went very well. The training with the Sage 50 manufacturing consultant was very good. He helped us gain a better understanding of the manufacturing features to improve the ways we operate on a daily basis.”

Integrated business solution

Sage 50c has enabled Train Door Solutions to continue running their manufacturing operation with control at every stage. From planning materials and costs to monitoring real-time works orders, the software gives the company greater visibility over its processes with effective work scheduling and product quality control.

Vanessa explained, “Sage 50 looks after everything from ordering stock to dispatching goods and then invoicing. With the new Sage 50 we can cope with order volumes ensuring we are flexible in meeting the requirements for different jobs and customers. We have a complete view of stock levels and can track all the orders to avoid shortages for improved customer satisfaction.”

With Sage 50c Train Door Solutions can continually monitor and analyse their business finances through full integration of Sage 50 Manufacturing and Sage Accounting. Vanessa explained, “I use Sage for absolutely everything. For instance, stock is allocated and issued against jobs, instantly updating our Sage 50 Accounts. Invoices can be raised for all or parts of jobs, and then posted automatically to Sage using the stock that I’ve just booked in.”

This versatile solution features the core accounting tools that Train Door Solutions need to manage all the financial aspects of a business, eliminating labour intensive, manual processes. Vanessa explained, “In Sage I can easily manage my bank information, from setting up your accounts, to posting transactions and checking the balances. I can customise our invoices to match our terms and conditions.”

Over the years, Train Door Solutions moved from time consuming manual accounting to a fully integrated accounts solution that controls and manages all the financial aspects of a business for maximum productivity and efficiency gains. Vanessa commented,

“We have been using Sage 50 since 2006 and we can’t imagine life without it. Up until then our finances were all about spreadsheets and piles of paper, making us prone to errors and reducing productivity. We needed an automated solution that would make us more efficient, reduce human error and enhance the services we deliver to our customers. We have been happy since!.”
