Swiftpage Ends Support for Act v17

Published: 17 May 2017

Swiftpage ends support for Act v17 on 30th November 2017. After this date, customers will no longer be able to purchase additional licences, extend support contracts or upgrade at a discounted rate. No further service packs or security fixes will be released which means insufficient protection against cyber security hazards.

Act v17 will reach end of life in November 2017. While the software will continue to work, Swiftpage will no longer release updates, patches or hot fixes to remedy bugs and defects. As a result, organisations using the unsupported product may be subject to security risks, including ransomware and other malicious attacks, which can put business data at risk. Find out more about the risk of using outdated systems here.

Customers with an active Swiftpage support plan in place will remain supported until the contract expires. From December 2017 it won’t be possible to obtain a new support contract and additional licences for this version will no longer be supplied.

Business Partners, such as Xperience Group, will continue to provide technical support for Act v17, however without critical security updates and patches any new bugs and defects may be unresolved. Additionally, outdated systems are prone to failure and are less reliable. As a result, the cost of maintaining the software is likely to rise.

Once it becomes obsolete, using any new hardware or software with Act v17 may result in compatibility problems, impacting on day-to-day operations and employee productivity. This includes the latest Office applications, browsers and operating systems.

Customers who fail to upgrade by the end of November will face increased upgrade costs. To avoid this, it is recommended that customers consider upgrading to the latest version. Act is now a subscription product which means customers will automatically receive future releases, product and compatibility updates as they’re developed, ensuring no obsolescence issues. Technical support is also included in subscription at no extra charge!

Customers who wish to upgrade prior to the obsolescence date will be entitled to preferential upgrade prices.
