End of Support for Sage 200 2013

Published: 5 November 2018

On 1st November Sage 200 2013 has reached End of Life, meaning no legislative updates, enhancements or bug fixes will be released moving forward. With lack of up-to-date service patches businesses who stay on the unsupported version will become vulnerable to security threats and software defects.

Although Sage 200 2013 will continue working, from November onwards, Sage won’t release hotfixes or patches and legislative updates for the affected version. The latter means the software will no longer be up-to-date with changes in government legislation, including Making Tax Digital, which requires businesses to start submitting tax online from April 2019. Customers who keep using Sage 200 2013 will notice functionality gaps when working with the latest Office applications, browsers and operating systems. They can also become an easier target of cyber-attacks, due to lack of up-to-date patches. Hackers are constantly exploiting vulnerabilities, and if  patches are not applied, the question is when, not if an attack happens. What’s the Importance of Patching? >>>

With Sage 200 2013 becoming obsolete, Business Partners, such as Xperience Group, won’t be able to sell additional licences or offer support contracts. Although existing customers will be supported, not all bugs and software defects will be resolved, which can increase the cost of maintaining the software.

It is advisable for customers to move to a supported version to protect their business against cyber security attacks and comply with Making Tax Digital. The latest version of Sage 200 Software offers both affordability and flexibility in terms of deployment options and payment plans, as well as a plethora of cloud connected features available at the touch of the button. What makes Sage 200cloud different from previous releases >>>

It is standard practice for technology companies to withdraw support for older versions of software. This is due to research and development to improve software and services, including new technology  advancements and changes in legislation. Consequently, embracing new technologies give companies the opportunity to become more agile. Digital Transformation: What Is It? & What Does It Mean for SME’s?
