Xperience Cloud Customers Protected From National Grid Outage

Published: 25 September 2014

Following a power outage incident earlier this month, Xperience can proudly announce that their data centres and cloud service was unaffected.

Cloud computing is becoming more and more popular due to the flexibility, scalability, accessibility and security offered. Therefore, selecting a resilient cloud service provider is an incredibly important task for businesses moving to the cloud. The importance of this was highlighted by an incident, on 11/09/2014 when DMC Software identified a failure in a power feed at its data centre in Enfield, but due to the design and robust nature of the centres, all of Xperience’s customers were unaffected.

The loss of power was classified as an “emergency”, which meant UK Power Network had to fix the issue as soon as possible. Due to Xperience’s on-site sub-stations being configured with an emergency link enabling each power feed to deliver to the other, delivery of power to both supplies was effectively maintained within their data centre. Despite National Grid power loss, DMC Software were still able to deliver cloud services due to the data centre being resilient, as documented on the Xperience Group Network Status site, “Due to the highly resilient and redundant nature of our data centre facilities and our cloud computing platforms as a whole, customers have not been impacted as all systems worked as expected.”

Xperience Group have their own data centres, which are built to high specifications and designed to be resilient and robust. The cloud service which runs from these centres is closely monitored by Xperience’s IT team, allowing them to have the knowledge and ability to update customers on the cloud status in real-time. Xperience Group also offer ongoing support to their valued customers and are proud of maintaining their 100% uptime record since their cloud services went live in 2011, putting customers’ minds at ease. With online backup, disaster recovery and network monitoring available, there are no concerns over business disruption or loss of revenue all of your business data is safe and secure.
