In the last year, 60% of law firms reported an information security incident – an increase of almost 20% from the previous 12 months. With this in mind, Xperience Group, in partnership with Sophos, IT security experts, are hosting a FREE event on Friday 12th October 2018 in Belfast, to educate the legal sector on the most significant cyber threats include phishing, data breaches and ransomware.

The cyber threat to UK legal sector

According to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the cyber threat to the UK legal sector has grown significantly over the last few years, with reports showing over £11 million of client money stolen due to cybercrime in 2016.

Phishing is the most common cyber-attack affecting law firms and is particularly prevalent in areas of practice such as conveyancing. A recent poll of law firms showed that approximately 80% have reported phishing attempts in the last year.

Patrick Leggett, Director at Xperience Group comments, “Any disruption as a result of a cyber-attack can be devastating, both financially and reputationally, not only for the firm but also its clients. With this in mind, we want to provide conveyancers and legal professionals with the tools and training they need to protect their clients and businesses from cyber-attacks.”

Date: Friday 12th October

Time: 8am – 10am

Duration: 2 hours followed by Q&A (Breakfast included)
